The Exploration and Mining Division is a line Division of the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (DCENR), promoting and regulating minerals exploration and development in Ireland. Minex.ie is focused on providing services for the exploration industry, including access to published company exploration reports and the availability of Prospecting Licences. More information of possible interest can be found on the Department’s Spatial Data Pages, which is provided free of charge to the public with the following disclaimer and comprises of data from the Exploration and Mining Division, Geological Survey of Ireland, Petroleum Affairs Division and Engineering Division of DCENR.

Ireland has much to offer. It is a stable Parliamentary Republic with a long mining tradition, diverse geology with a wealth of mineral potential, and a highly developed infrastructure. Major deposits found to date include Zn - Pb deposits at Navan (>90 Mt) and Lisheen (18.9 Mt). In terms of tonnes of zinc discovered per sq km, Ireland ranks 1st in the world.
